Warmth for Newtown: Our Winter Wood Project Wraps Up
Over the last three months, a dedicated group of our members has been busy in the yard processing reclaimed timber and fallen trees donated by the local park service. We are proud to announce that we have officially delivered our 50th “Warmth Pack” to local residents in need of seasoned firewood.
What started as a small idea to clear some space in the yard turned into a major community support project. By splitting and seasoning the wood ourselves, we’ve provided a sustainable heating source for several local families and elderly residents during the colder months.
A big thanks to Old Tom and Pete for their tireless work on the log splitter. We’ll be taking a break from wood processing for a few weeks to focus on indoor furniture projects, but keep an eye out for our “Seasoning Workshop” later this summer where we’ll teach the best methods for storing and drying timber.
