Don’t Bin It, Fix It: Newtown Repair Café Launches Next Month
We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Newtown Sustainability Group to host our very first Repair Café on the last Saturday of May. Our members will be on hand to help local residents fix broken household items that would otherwise end up in a landfill.
From wobbly chair legs and broken picture frames to blunt garden tools and faulty kettles, we’re opening the workshop doors to the public. The goal isn’t just to fix the items, but to show people how to fix them. It’s a great way to share our skills and help our neighbors save a bit of money while being kinder to the planet.
“A lot of things are thrown away simply because people don’t have the tools or the confidence to open them up. We have both.” — Jim Harrison, Workshop Manager.
We are looking for four more volunteers to join the “Repair Squad” for the day. If you’re handy with a screwdriver or a soldering iron, please add your name to the list in the tea room.
